Description
Crab spider camouflaged on flower. Goldenrod crab spider (Misumena vatia) camouflaged on a lesser celandine (Ficaria verna) flower. These spiders are ambush predators that inject venom into their prey. They commonly catch honey bees. They change colour from white to yellow (as here) depending on the colour of the flower they are on. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in March.
