August 10th, 2012 - Belpre, OH

Natural Expressions Photography Show to be held August 12 - 24

Artist and photographer Janet Jones Pugh of Belpre, Ohio will display a new collection of her nature photography at the Gold Derrick Gallery in Sistersville, West Virginia beginning August 12. The display, titled Natural Expressions, encompasses scenes Ms Pugh has found in her travels from the lush mountains and valleys of her native West Virginia and current home in Ohio to the sunkissed Carolina shores. Included are striking scenes of the countryside, flowers, butterflies and serene beach views taken from sunrise to sunset, blending old and new subjects and even unusual ones such as snakes and sea urchins. Ms Pugh often employs whimsical, unusual artistic treatments that not only intrigue the eye but bring her images to an almost 3-D quality.broihier Ms Pugh is a native of Vienna, West Virginia but lived in the Wilmington, North Carolina area for over twenty years. Her love of the beach led her to begin photographing the shorelines of that area and those at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. After moving back to Ohio in 2007, Ms Pugh began taking photos of the natural beauty found in the Ohio and West Virginia countryside and river valleys. Her hobby has led her to learn intricate photography techniques, which she says keep her photos fresh and interesting. gI always carry one of my cameras with me,h she explained. gYou never know when you will see something that seems ordinary and simple, but with the right treatment will make an outstanding photograph. I love to play with the various photography techniques that can turn these ordinary scenes into something that will really catch your eye.broihier Natural Expressions will be displayed at the Gold Derrick Gallery in the historic Gaslight Theater, 720 Wells St, Sistersville from August 12 - 24. A reception will open the viewing to the public on August 12 from 1 - 3 pm at the gallery. The public is invited to meet Ms Pugh and enjoy her work.
